in sonoma county followed by shootings over this weekend in san francisco, san jose, union city, and hayward. now in that hayward shooting on sunday, police say a driver rammed his car into a police cruiser during a traffic stop. the officer opened fire hitting a passenger. that passenger died at the scene. now, the driver, a 23-year-old oakley man, is in custody. >> everything is just escalated between the cops fearing for their lives and people on the streets fearing for their lives. >> on saturday police shot and killed a man after a high-speed chase through san jose. another pursuit saturday ended near candlestick park with a daly city police officer shooting and killing a suspect. the officers involved, all of them, are on administrative leave. >>> san jose police could tell us more about a high-speed chase that ended with the death of a driver. that chase started about 2:30 saturday afternoon. you can see it here on video. police opening fire on that suspect after he got out of his car and refused to obey orders despite peespeeds up to 100 mil an hour, no officer or bystander was hurt.

lives in san jose after they were held for ransom for 18 months. two have been arrested. the mother was in the united states illegally looking for work in washington state. she asked the suspects to bring the children to the united states and she paid them repeatedly. $5,000, eventually but the suspects never brought the kids here and threatened to kill them if she went to the police. she fine -- finally did. the two are held on felony charges in san jose. >> an assault rifle stolen from a san francisco police car on saturday has been recovered. police have released few details of how or where they got the weapon back. the ar-15 was taken from an unmarked car like this one which was parked and locked while officers were working in the market neighborhood. it is only issued to specially trained officers. >> a memorial is held on thursday for the two santa cruz police officers shot and killed in the line of duty last tuesday. a motorcade is scheduled to start at 8:45 on ocean street. the memorial for detective sergeant butch baker and detective elizabeth butler was moved to the pavili

property in the south bay. kpix 5 reporter anne makovec is in san jose this morning where warnings went out several days ago. >> reporter: the city says it gave these people 72 hours notice and today they are planning a clean-up. i'm on spring street in san jose and you can see campers remain on this public property. the clean-up though is set to begin this morning. and the city says it's going up to its police presence here. about 100 people having living in this encampment near the guadalupe parkway river. it's one of an estimated 60 camps throughout santa clara county. this one is in the flight path of the san jose airport so it's been spotted from above and it quickly grew after another sweep of a homeless encampment nearby. >> you move them interest one spot and they pop up in another -- you move them from one spot and they pop up in another. >> it's frustrating but part of the process. we have to be consistent as i said in our application on how we work with people. if we continue to work, i think everyone at the city believes that we will have

area especially in the north bay where we're in the mid to upper 30s. 45 in san jose. 46 in san francisco. you probably don't need the umbrella at least for the first half of the day. you'll notice the winds picking up out of the south as we move into the afternoon. right now those winds gusty at times in the hills but that will mix down to seaç level as the cold front here which is on the north coast slides toward the bay area. the timing on this system has slowed down a little bit. maybe some good news now heading toward the first half of the evening commute notice lunchtime still with the sunshine and then the clouds start to spill in. 7:00 now starting to see the rain heading toward the peninsula and then around 9:00, 10:00 and by midnight tonight is when the cold front is racing right across on top of the bay area. temperatures as we go hour by hour probably the warmest numbers around early afternoon and then cooling as we head into the evening with the winds picking up and after this cold front comes through bringing us rain later, much unsettled conditions will continue

they are not blocking visibility for the drivers this morning but there's mist out there. san jose right there 50 degrees. not a bad start to your monday morning. 48 in san francisco. moisture was brought in by overnight sea breeze. winds not too strong. it's almost like in june when you have low clouds to come in from the coast and then they'll break up as sun comes up around lunchtime today. so a bit of drizzle possible for the morning. we'll start off partly cloudy and mostly cloudy toward tomorrow afternoon and evening as we get some much needed rain and sierra snow in the forecast. so today areas of drizzle for the morning clearing around lunchtime and as we head through the afternoon in the hilltops out toward mt. hamilton and north bay northern sonoma county might see an isolated shower during mid afternoon hours with the heating of the day and partly cloudy watching the sunset later on. the storm system we're tracking here coming in for tuesday is a potent one. you can see the cold front offshore spilling in now jumping ahead to tomorrow's forecast. morning commute is fine but toward the

, the lady who lives on southbrook drive in south san jose tells me she awoke to find him standing over her in bed. she chased him out of the house, told him to keep running because she was calling the police. i said, wow, that's pretty gutsy. she tells me she always had that instinct in her. officers were able to set up a perimeter within 90 seconds since coincidentally they were already patrolling the area for other quality of life crimes in that neighborhood. she was able to give them a very good description. she did fall asleep with the tv on. campo was found within minutes. >> the fact that they were able to respond in less than two minutes, lock the area down, he probably came out and tried to pretend that he was just a nearby resident because he figured there was so many officers in the area that he wasn't going to be able to avoid detection very long. so he probably rolled the dice and tried to trick us into thinking he was somebody who lived in the area. >> reporter: campo was arrested, as i mentioned. he was wearing an ankle monitoring bracelet as required by law. he also tried to
